Taking a few moments out of our day to immerse ourselves into something that brings us joy is incredibly healthy. I saw my therapist today. Therefore, I needed to leave my home alone which is always quite a challenge. I felt very anxious and got symptoms of depersonalizaton. That was really scary. I can go round and round overthinking every small detail of something. ⠀ Or overthink a small problem until it looks like a huge monster that I won’t be able to tackle. ⠀ So I’d like to share one of my favourite quotes that I’ve found the most helpful myself when I’ve gotten stuck in overthinking. ⠀ A healthier way of moving forward is to understand that making mistakes and failing are a natural part of stretching your comfort zone. Mistakes help us learn valuable lessons in order to grow and adapt in situations. There’s no need to overthink things, life will happen anyway. It’s best not to fight it and learn to let go of always needing to feel in control ❤️

A lot of people are put off the idea of meditation because they believe that it’s too time consuming or too complicated ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧘‍♀️ Let’s run through a quick meditation that you can go to whenever you have a spare 5 minutes:⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ * Find somewhere comfortable and private. You don’t want to be distracted from the meditation because you’re uncomfortable or you’ll risk that being your overriding thought throughout!⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⁣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ * Close your eyes and let your body relax. Breathe deeply from your diaphragm and feel the tension start to ease. It’s less about thinking of nothing and much more about returning your mind to the present each time. How did yoga find you? I'm being brave and making today personal. I don't go here often, but I am one of Australia's 2%. It took me a long time to accept and get the help I needed because of how misunderstood #OCD is, even by myself in the very the beginning. OCD is not just about being an order or clean freak. It's not an offhand 'omg I'm so ocd' comment because something annoys you. It is hours and hours of counting, of repeating multiple physical rituals (how many times you have to turn a doorhandle before you can open the door, how many times you have to rinse a glass clockwise then anti clockwise before you can drink from it), countless #panicattacks over starting, finishing and then having to restart the ritual you just finished because it wasn't done right enough to shut the monster in your head up the first time. And all of this you've done and dealt with and only just made it to breakfast time. Most days it is easier to curl into a ball and not move. If you don't move, don't talk, don't do anything at all, then you can pretend just for a little bit that you're a 'normal' person. I function due to medication and a whole hell of a lot of #therapy and support. OCD is not a joke. It's frustrating, heartbreaking and on occasion, feels #impossible to live with. OCD isn't some fun, quirky personality trait or joke to laugh at but a genuine, life altering #mentalillness Where does #yoga fit into this? Yoga for me is about combining #breath and #movement to help me be and stay in the #hereandnow it's about finding and belonging to a #community leaving my damaged #ego behind, being #accessible #inclusive #traumasensitive and including #mindfullness in every class I teach. it's about being able to find a #safeplace on my #yogamat and knowing I can always come back to it. It's the one place in my life that I don't have to be or pretend to be, perfect. Do you feel the shivers down your spine for something you’ve been longing for so long and when the time comes you are all nervous and jittery?. Calling my self confident infront of everyone and the people who believe I am is not enough when I really have to perform and show people how good I am in something. Having a calm exterior while inside my heart is in my mouth. Tell me how you overcome such panic attacks and anxiety? For me , nothing works until I am in that moment and I become all spontaneous with everything. All the planning goes down the drain and I literally have cold feet so I truly am found in my most raw form. You explode 💥 I'm not saying go out there and start an all out war with everyone. Just deal with your emotions. If you're sad, cry. If you're happy, laugh and enjoy yourself. Posle bas dugo bremena sam skupila snage i otisla negde sama. Morala sam, trebala sam nekoga bitnog da posetim u bolnici, nekoga za koga mislim da je jedna od najhrabrihih osoba na svetu. I uspela sam... usla u gradski prevoz, sto je za mene mucenje bukvalno, otisla dalje pesaka i dosla gde sam i krenula. Videla sam je i odmah sam se bolje osecala. Moram da priznam da mi ovo nije bilo ni malo lako, tresla sam se, bila na ivici suza, znojila se i svasta jos nesto ali USPELA SAM. Isto sam se osecala i kada sam se vracala. Mozda i gore, jer dok sam cekala prevoz za nazad uporno sam trazila prodavnice ili radnje gde mogu da se sklonim, jer sam mislila slosice mi se ali bolje negde unutra nego na teotoaru. Uradila sam sve to, sa mnogo strasnih misli. U poslednjih par dana osecam se lose, razmisljam o svacemu, ali nadam se iskreno da ce me to proci... ovo je moje godisnje doba posveceno losem razmisljanju i konstantnom strahu.
