A day on my plate 5 weeks out from comp! . . . Right now everything tastes amazing to me because I'm hungrier than the average human 😂 Food choices are made based on what will keep me feeling fullest for longest rather than what tastes best at the moment! . . My top tips for when eating in a deficit: 1. PLAN ahead of time rather than tracking on the go. 2. Create a meal plan and stick to the same meals for multiple days in a row to prevent messing up or being stuck on my fitness pal. 3. Select high volume foods which have lower calories but fill your plate! E.g. selecting potatoes over rice. 4. Set meal times and stick with them. 5. Push your first meal out as late as you can (unless you train first thing in the morning). 6. Drink lots of liquids between meals. I'm currently loving liquorice tea! 7. Keep your choices simple- you don't need to be cooking fancy recipes all the time . . Hope this was helpful! . . #fdoe

Researchers measure the health of DNA by measuring something called telomeres. Telomeres are stretches of DNA that cover the ends of our DNA strands. Think of them as the protective plastic tips that cover the ends of shoelaces. Without telomeres, DNA would become damaged and tattered at the ends, just like your shoelaces without the aglet (I did a google search for that!). One of the more widely accepted theories on why and how age affects the human body is the theory of telomere deterioration. Or in other words, the aglets wear away and the shoelace becomes a frayed mess at the end. In general, older and less healthy people have shorter and less intact telomeres. Younger and healthier people have longer and more intact telomeres. Telomeres are measurably shorter in people with chronic and degenerative diseases like cancer, heart disease, and high stress. Needless to say, measuring telomeres is pretty interesting to researchers because some think they hold the key to longevity and vitality. I want to stay healthy and strong for them and maintain a healthy weight, mind and body. Working out keeps me mobile, keeps me strong to carry my kids around as needed, and even helps me move around easier with my job.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is a goal you’ve accomplished recently within the gym?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I recently rehabbed myself back from a shoulder injury. It took a lot of work in and out of the gym. I had to slow down and back off of a lot of movements, and in doing that I learned how to engage some of the smaller muscle groups, I also learned how crucial form and mobility are for ALL movements.
