4.1 ELAKKAN MAKANAN "FAT FREE" ATAU "LOW FAT". Harus diingat bahawa bukan semua lemak itu tidak baik untuk kesihatan kita! Kita memerlukan lemak untuk membolehkan kita rasa kenyang, selain memudahkan badan kita membuang lebihan lemak. Mengelak lemak di dalam diet seharian anda bukan sahaja meningkatkan nafsu makan malahan akhirnya menyebabkan anda makan berlebihan. Pengambilan makanan versi bebas lemak akan menyebabkan anda kekurangan vitamin dan mineral. Mengelak lemak daripada makanan seperti produk tenusu akan menghalang penyerapan lemak boleh larut yang penting seperti kalsium dan vitamin A dan D. Selain itu, kebanyakan makanan bebas lemak, melainkan produk tenusu organik, penuh dengan bahan kimia dan toksik. Menurut Food & Drug Administration (FDA) dan US Department of Agriculture (USDA), makanan “bebas lemak” mestilah mempunyai kandungan lemak yang kurang daripada setengah gram lemak bagi setiap hidangan seperti yang dicatatkan pada label. Namun demikian, didapati banyak makanan terbabit boleh jadi mempunyai kandungan karbohidrat lebih tinggi berbanding versi makanan yang tidak bebas lemak dan kandungan kalori pula hampir sama banyak. Ini kerana pengeluar makanan telah menambah pengisi (filler) dan bahan kimia lain (seperti gula bertapis, tepung, pemekat, dan garam) untuk mengurangkan rasa dan teksturnya. Susu tanpa lemak atau bebas lemak adalah baik selagi ianya organik, seperti susu skim organik atau yogurt tanpa lemak organik, pastikan label sentiasa diperiksa bagi barangan ini. . I love having some flexibility with my meal planning. _ _ I used to create a monthly menu for all our meals and snacks. It took up a lot of time. We almost always switch things around. We’ve been branching out in the kitchen and trying different things and new ways of cooking clean! Y’all. Our meals the past few days have been ON POINT! They taste just like (or better) highly sought after steakhouses and seafood restaurants but half if not more than half the calories and the flavor is out of this world! Eating healthy doesn’t have to be booooring and is actually quite DELICIOUS! Featured: grilled halibut with a “butter” lemon and herb sauce, mashed cauliflower and sautéed spinach. This 👆 belief, thought and behavior towards food and your body will never do you any favours in the long run. You are starting an endless battle when you start ignoring your body. Instead you could ask yourself “What does my body need in this moment?” and really experience satisfaction. If you truly over ate last night your appetite will reflect that. Don’t believe me? When we remove the good/bad mindset and give ourselves permission to FEEL and LISTEN to our body you may learn that your body prefers variety, it may sometimes crave vegetables some days and others maybe carb rich foods, especially when it needs the energy. Do you ignore your bodies communication about being hot or cold? Or needing to pee? Restriction of certain foods leads to an increased want for that food. When the body is deprived of energy it also increases its seeking ability by enhancing our senses. This puts many at high risk of binge eating because their body only wants to correct the stress of low energy but it is fueled by the diet mentality with feelings of guilt, wanting to numb uncomfortable feelings of regret or failure, seeking comfort and believing the next restriction will be soon so “I better eat it now”. It will also find ways to become more energy efficient if this occurs often (a topic for another day!) In summary, listen to your body, honour your body and move on and live your life!
