It's #transformationtuesday!! Hi, I'm Heather. I used to be 340 lbs & unhealthy. For most of my life I was fat. In late 2017 I was fed up. Always doing yo-yo diets, losing some, to only gain back. I've followed multiple diet plans. Nothing worked long term. My doc suggested Gastric Bypass. A lot went into preparing for it -- tests, procedures, classes, many doc visits. I had to have certain comorbidities & was required to lose 20 lbs to prove I CAN, per insurance requirements. I lost 40 lbs prior to my surgery date of 12/13/17. Since then, I've lost nearly 200 lbs. I feel like a new me -- I still struggle w/ fatigue, fibro & mental health, but this is a huge improvement. Gastric Bypass isn't some quick & easy thing -- it is a lifestyle CHANGE that requires WORK to continue to succeed. Daily food tracking (its day 701 of food logging!) exercise, portion control, hydration & keeping up on protein, REQUIRED vitamins forever, & continued monitoring of my bloodwork forever. But I wouldn't change a thing!! This has all been worth it -- #Determination #Dedication #Discipline & #Desire keep me motivated. Made a big ol’ plate of nachos tonight for dinner. I’ve had nachos on the brain for days now and knew I wanted to make them this week. I used my @cutdacarb flatbreads to make the chips. This was only the second time I’ve made homemade chips. It’s been awhile. I cooked them a tab bit too long this time but they were still really good and very crispy which I like. To make the chips I cut up one @cutdacarb flatbread (2SP) with my pizza cutter. I placed them on a parchment lined baking sheet and sprayed them with a quick spray of avocado oil and added a light coating of salt. I placed the baking sheet in a 400 degree oven for 3 minutes and the flipped them and cooked them for another three minutes. I think I could have only done 2 and 2 minutes or I might cut the temperature next time. I topped them with 99% lean ground turkey (0SP) cooked with taco seasoning. Even with training and consistency your body won’t be able to do somethings your mind isn’t confident you can do. Fix that mindset! Set up small goals! Work up to it, and build your confidence. Don’t say “ I can’t “ for a few months and just do it. Go workout for the first time after eating a lot, change your eating habits, stop dieting! make it a lifestyle!, deadlift a personal record you’d never think you can do, and bench press the weight you’re not sure about, I bet you 100% chance you CAN DO IT! If you can’t do it, big deal you work up to it. You practice you train HARDER and then you DO IT AGAIN. And see your progress. We took this picture on the left Aug 23, 2018 after leaving a doctors appointment and we were 100% set on this was our time and we were doing the dang thing.. cue a couple weeks later and we were right back where we started as we didn’t make changes. We tried to keep living our lives the way we were and hoped we would see the changes. We let 5 more months ago by before I finally put my whole heart into it and said I’m doing it- I’m going to be consistent- and I’m showing up every single day if that is what it takes.

I am so beyond grateful to be getting this second chance at life. At 370 pounds, I felt trapped in my body and felt like I was just alive, not living. Losing weight naturally was a breeze compared to losing weight with #WLS. When I lost weight naturally, I ate non processed foods and exercised and the weight melted off. After having Grayson, the weight piled on quickly again and I gained 80 pounds out of the 140 I had lost. Added it to the top of the #salad that I sprinkled with parmesan @frigocheese prior. And used the marinade in the artichoke jar as dressing and squeezed a little lemon over my roman lettuce as well.
